Lori Shuman

My name is Lori Shuman.  I love dogs, and I am a professional dog stylist.  I received my certificate from Animal Arts Academy in Carmel, IN.  I attend annual grooming conferences in Chicago, IL and Louisville, KY in order to discuss and discover new styles, products, and techniques relating to styling and the care of dogs.  In addition, I am an active member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America.

I have always had a love for animals and desire to create a calm and soothing environment for pets while styling.  Grooming is, for me, a creative and artistic outlet.  It validates my love for the pets I enjoy the most.

When I groom, I approach each pet calmly emphasizing a bond of trust developed through consistent care and acceptance.  I do this, in part, because I have witnessed, professional and non-professional, mistreatment of many dogs.  That observation makes me sick.  It is my desire to offer a happier, healthier alternative.  That is why I started my business, For the Love of Dogs Mobile Pet Salon.

I would like to thank my husband for his support and encouragement, my daughter who named my business; For the Love of Dogs Mobile Pet Salon, my son who thought of my email address; groominshuman@comcast.net, and all of my many friends for their inspiring words. Most of all I would like to thank my clients who trust their beloved pets to my care.

Jen Lorenzen

My name is Jen Lorenzen. I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember and have been working with animals of all sorts for most of my life. I had and showed horses throughout high school and college. I was known for pulling manes and braiding the manes and tails for shows. After college, I drifted away from the horses a bit, but was still called upon to pull manes from time to time. I also began to do ‘mercy’ grooms (matted shave downs) on neighborhood dogs.

I got my first standard poodle in 2002 and began show grooming late that year. My first litter arrived in the spring of 2005 and continued to do both show and pet grooming on my own dogs. In the fall of 2005, I was talked into taking a position professionally pet grooming for a friend of a friend at her veterinary clinic in Columbia, MO and found a new passion in life. As my former boss, the veterinarian/owner of the clinic, said groomers are the first line of health care for most pets. As groomers, we see your pets more frequently than your vets do and have the experience with a variety of health conditions that allows us to often pick up on subtle clues you may not see. I’ve caught many cases of cancer, thyroid disease, and other assorted conditions.

I look forward to meeting you and your dog(s) and becoming a part of the team keeping your dogs not just looking good, but also in optimal health and condition!

Diana Gibbons

My name is Diana Gibbons.  I have been grooming professionally for five years but in the animal care industry my entire adult life.  I have a background in animal medicine and nutrition and believe that treating the whole pet is the key to a successful relationship with your companion.  As a veterinary technician, I saw countless dogs come in for things that could have been prevented with basic care, grooming, training and nutrition. As a groomer I have been able to help many more dogs just because I see them more frequently and communicate with the owner on a regular basis.  The other side of grooming for me is the art.  It's a bit like sculpting with hair, and I love it!!  If you have a good dog that enjoys the process, it is therapeutic and relaxing for both of you.  This is another reason I recommend seeing your groomer as often as possible.  Going to the groomer should not be a frightening, unfamiliar event.  It should be spa day!!  Everyone should feel better after a massage and a great hair cut!

I have a great family that supports me in all my craziness (we have 6 dogs and a cat).  I've been married for seven years, and I have two children, Zoe Anna, 6 and Isaiah O., 4.  My husband and I do bully breed rescue, so we always have a dog or two available for adoption.  The guys in the picture with me are all permanent pack members.  The little one is Bunny Foo Foo.  The big guy is Moses and the North American Brown dog is Daisy Mae.  We also have a Boston named Muggers, and an Am Staff named Meat Head.  The cat (who runs the whole show) is Stu.  Last but certainly not the least bit quiet is Penny, our foster dog.  She's a 4 year old Malamute mix with a lot to say!!

I am looking forward to meeting you and your pack soon!!

Bre Bailey

Hi! My name is Breanne Bailey. I've been grooming for close to four years now and I love every minute of it. I didn't grow up with the dream to become a pet stylist, but I've always had a love for animals. I grew up with dogs, horses, cows, some hogs and sheep, even some baby raccoons! I've always known I would work with animals, but I guess I kind of fell into grooming. I wouldn't change it for the world, though. I love it. I love starting on a dog that's pretty cute, but adorable when I get finished! I'm very proud of my work and love customizing the haircuts of each dog. It's great to make the dogs look and feel better, but it's also pretty cool to be able to step back and say, "Wow, I did that." I still get giddy and excited to see the owner’s reaction when they first see their pet after being groomed.

I recently got engaged to my high school sweetheart Chris who's a dog trainer. He trains, I groom and have recently started teaching some agility classes, so you can see our life is pretty much nothing but dogs. We haven’t had any kids yet, but definitely refer to our dogs as our kids. Lycan, an 11 mo. old Belgian Malinois, Merlin, a 3 year old Pit Bull, and Pansy, a 1 year old Chihuahua. They're quite the bunch! I can't wait to meet your "kids!"

Catie Shuman

Hi! My name is Catie Shuman (yes, I'm Lori's daughter).  I take care of all your scheduling, phone inquiries, and e-mails.  I am currently a student at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I am recently finished my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and will be working on a Professional Studies certificate while auditioning for opera companies this year.  I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in German from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and was a member of Psi Lambda Xi sorority there.  I have always been an animal lover and grew up in a home that was practically a zoo (at one point in time we had 2 dogs, a cat and 3 birds).  Currently, I live in Cleveland with my Pomeranian, Nate.  I enjoy taking time to talk to you and help with all of your scheduling needs!
